In a cabinet meeting yesterday, Tuesday, September 30, the council heard a proposal which would see the building society let the building on a long lease for £3 million.
"This report seeks approval to the disposal of an office building, Oakfield House, for continued office use on a long leasehold basis to the existing tenant, Coventry Building Society (CBS).
The report added: "They (Coventry Building Society) plan to invest in the building to improve the building’s environmental credentials and reduce their carbon footprint as part of their climate change action plan."
A spokesman for Coventry Building Society said: "We’re looking to secure the long-term leasehold on Oakfield House which is part of our main office campus in Binley.
