Months after increasing electricity bills 16% on the generation end, PPL Electric Utilities is seeking an increase on the distribution end. PPL Electric Utilities has asked the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) to increase distribution rates for residential customers by 6.98%, the company announced in a notice to customers on its website. PPL is also requesting to increase commercial user bills by 5.31% and industrial customers by 2.58%. The last distribution rate hike went into effect on Jan. 1, 2016. Over the past decade, we’ve deployed advanced technologies to operate more efficiently, invested responsibly in the grid and expanded assistance programs to support those who need help paying their energy bills,” said Christine Martin, president of PPL Electric Utilities.
