FAIRFIELD – With five months until the special election for first selectman, the first salvo has been fired by the Fairfield Republican Town Committee against the incumbent Christine Vitale and her administration.
Vitale said Becker resigned as emergency management director on Sept. 8, then offered his letter of resignation as COO on Sept. 16.
The Fairfield Democratic Town Committee, in a Sept. 25 Facebook post, issued its own response to the Republicans attack.
The cost and related payment requests (which included the vehicle itself and the emergency management equipment) triggered an audit.
These findings were promptly shared with the public, First Selectman Vitale, and the Board of Finance on Sept. 16, 2025.”
