HUNTER, N.Y. — Forest rangers, paramedics, EMTs and a state police helicopter responded to a hiker with an ankle injury on Devil’s Path, the state Department of Environmental Conservation said Wednesday. At 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, the Department was alerted to the injured hiker. At 4:30 p.m., rangers, a Greene County paramedic and Hunter EMT determined that the 29-year-old hiker, who was on Devil’s Path at Jimmy Dolan Notch between Indian Head and Twin Mountain in the Indian Head Wilderness Area, had suffered an unstable ankle injury. Due to the terrain and location, rangers requested a state police helicopter for a hoist rescue. The hiker was taken to a hospital and resources were clear at 7:15 p.m., officials said.
