District 4 Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) announced yesterday (Tuesday) he would be forgoing his congressional pay for the duration of the government shutdown. Feenstra says, “On September 19th, I voted to keep the government open and prevent a shutdown that would hurt our seniors, veterans, and small businesses. This responsible approach ensures that we can continue the appropriations process, properly steward taxpayer dollars, and cut wasteful government spending from the federal budget. Regrettably, Democrats have decided that, unless they can spend an additional $1.5 trillion in taxpayer dollars and give free healthcare to illegal immigrants, they will shut down the government. Postal Service will continue to deliver mail, and benefits programs, such as Social Security and SNAP, will also remain operational.
