Blacksmith Dylan Mills of Fire Creek Customs works on a door handle for the Henry and Jane Bess Sitzes log homestead at Pioneer Days in Marquand this weekend.
Lately, he has made a dozens of hairpins, where he sold 20 at the fair in Greenville, some in back order.
He was to choose project so viewers could watch his craft, when his wife Jada Mills had a suggestion.
“I told him, ‘You haven’t sold any hairpins yet.’ He made one and put it out and then more came.” He said he had so much work he could hardly take a lunch break after that, and it has remained a popular product.
