Warning as spike in asbestos being dumped in town

Eastleigh Borough Council said the illegal dumping of the material is not only against the law but also poses serious health and environmental risks.
The council said: "Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring fibrous minerals once widely used in building materials.

The material can only be removed by trained, licensed professionals and disposed of at specialist, approved facilities.
The council is asking residents to not dump asbestos waste under any circumstances, and if they have some to dispose of, to use a licensed contractor or to visit the council's website for guidance on approved disposal sites.
