Officers from British Transport Police attended near Rainhill railway station this afternoon, Wednesday, October 1. Police were called at around 1.40pm after a dog was "found deceased" on the railway line, near to the station. Officers worked with railway staff to safely remove the dog and return it to its owner. A British Transport Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at around 1.40pm today (October 1) after a dog was found deceased on the line near Rainhill railway station. "Officers worked with railway staff so that the dog could be safely recovered and returned to its owner."
