Major U.S. oil companies and their top managers were targeted by sanctions by a Yemeni body affiliated with the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, for what they say is violating a Houthi embargo.
The Houthis say this action is taken under the principle of reciprocity, a response to U.S. sanctions — despite Oman’s May 6, 2025 announcement of a de-escalation and ceasefire between the U.S. and them,” Al-Basha wrote.
Moreover, the Houthis on Wednesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a Netherlands-flagged cargo ship earlier this week.
The Monday attack on the Minervagracht left the vessel ablaze and adrift in the Gulf of Aden.
