The Carbuncle Award, also known as the ‘Plook on the Plinth’, was awarded to Port Glasgow earlier this month. Social entrepreneur Kevin Green, who runs the Port Glasgow 2025 campaign, refused to accept the ‘honour’, saying that it didn’t reflect the town’s ‘punching up, not punching down’ ethos. Kevin made the new accolade himself and delivered it to Urban Realm editor John Glenday. Port Glasgow is now the first recipient of the new, much more positive, honour.
