Jeff Evans, known throughout the industry for his extensive archives of historical helicopter photos, documents, brochures and models, has died at the age of 79. Fascinated by a helicopter’s many moving parts, he started making crude models of the aircraft years before he understood how they actually worked. That prompted Evans to start regularly writing to helicopter manufacturers from seeking information, brochures, and photographs of helicopters. Whenever his family went on vacation, Evans would immediately open the local phone book and identify where the local helicopter companies were based. While quietly spoken, Evans was always available and willing to help other helicopter historians.
