— After launching search efforts for a man reported to have fallen in the North Platte River in the early hours of Tuesday, Casper Police now say that the report may have been false and that the no river rescue was needed. Drones, boats and search teams were quickly deployed to scour the river winding through Casper after a call “indicated a man had fallen into the river and could not get out,” a CPD release stated. That same day, however, police confirmed that the man was safe at his home and away from the river. “Based on these findings, investigators believe the report was false and that no river rescue was ever needed,” the release said. Especially in this instance, where first responders were operating under the assumption the man had fallen into the river in the dark of night, coordinated search efforts were deemed necessary.
