OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Oshkosh police are urging residents to lock up their valuables, especially firearms, after a spike in recent thefts from vehicles. Since March 2025, Oshkosh police responded to 36 reports of theft from vehicles. Among these, five involved firearms being taken; in three of these incidents, the vehicles were unlocked. Police are stressing the importance of proactive crime prevention measures:Remove all valuables from your vehicle. Always close your vehicle’s windows and lock the doors- even when it is parked in your garageSecure all doors to your home- including garage doors and side doorsClose and lock all windows on the first floor of your homeLeave outside lights on for extra visibility during the night.
