Rabat – The Anti-Gang Unit in Casablanca said it arrested a man who attempted to impersonate a police officer on the evening of Tuesday during security interventions in some neighborhoods of the city during the ongoing Gen Z protests. Since last Saturday, several cities across Morocco have witnessed widespread protests by young people demanding better healthcare and education. Police added that during a search, security officers found in his possession a plastic gun, a leather holster for handcuffs, and a bullet. Protestors and the general public have criticized the security response towards the young protestors, with hundreds of videos showing police manhandling peaceful demonstrators, using force to disperse groups, and violently detaining them. A viral video from last night showed a police car running over a young man in Oujda and breaking both his legs.
