Police Scotland figures obtained under a Freedom of Information (FOI) request by the Daily Record have revealed that around a quarter of cameras across the country are no longer operational. Data from the FOI shows that 120 speeding cameras across Scotland are out of action, falling from 493 to 372, according to Safety Cameras Scotland data. Among the cameras no longer in use, 86 were used for speed detection, and 25 were for catching drivers who run red lights. Cameras no longer in use have orange covers placed over them with the words “Not In Use” written on them.
