Findings from preclinical study have shown that the agent selectively recruits T cells to high-expressing ENPP3-positive cancer cells in vitro, leading to an antitumor response.
XmAb30819 is being evaluated in an ongoing, first-in-human phase 1 trial (NCT05433142) for the treatment of patients with advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
In xenograft mice tumor models of clear cell RCC, the agent reduced the median tumor volume over time compared with phosphate-buffered saline and an anti–PD-1 monoclonal antibody.
JNJ-87890387 led to potent ENPP3 specific in vitro T-cell activation, T-cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and proinflammatory cytokine release across multiple ENPP3 expressing tumor cell lines.
“It’s exciting that there are multiple companies exploring this pathway and this [will] give our patients more options,” Runcie said.
