"Indonesia is cooperating with various foreign halal institutions to expand halal service networks," Deputy for Halal Registration and Certification at BPJPH, Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, said in a statement here on Tuesday.He emphasized that the establishment of an ASEAN halal standard should serve as a starting point for building a strong and authoritative global halal ecosystem.According to him, the role of halal is becoming increasingly important in global business and trade, particularly in the food and beverage sector. "Halal as a standard is closely linked to health, hygiene, food safety, nutrition, food security, and even genetic modification of foodstuffs," he noted.To this end, BPJPH is working to strengthen regulations while sharing Indonesia's experience in halal certification. "Through BPJPH, Indonesia continues to develop halal certification services that are effective, transparent, accountable, simple, fast, and affordable to support the strengthening of both national and global halal ecosystems," Burhanudin remarked.Indonesia is also actively promoting the importance of the halal ecosystem in various global forums. "This is an important momentum to mainstream halal in the global food and foodstuffs markets, and Indonesia is ready to play a strategic role in seizing this immense opportunity," he said.
