TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said there is a possibility to transform the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) into an agency, as part of the ongoing revision of the SOEs Law. "It is possible for the government to demote the status of the SOEs Ministry, designating it as an agency," said Prasetyo at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. This Gerindra Party politician explained that the SOEs Ministry currently acts as a regulator, as the newly formed sovereign wealth fund Danantara became more involved in the operational functions of SOEs. But the government is still weighing various implications of changing the status of the SOEs Ministry, Prasetyo went on. He did not rule out the possibility of merging the SOEs Ministry with Danantara.
