The wage cost index increased by 10.3% in the second quarter of 2025, without any adjustment (seasonal or with respect to the number of working days), across the entire economy excluding the primary sector and household activities, according to data from ELSTAT. During the same comparison between Q2 2024 and Q2 2023, there was an 8.6% increase, as reported by ELSTAT. The wage cost index, adjusted for seasonality but not for the number of working days, showed an 8.7% increase in Q2 2024 compared to Q2 2023, versus a 7.3% increase during the same comparison of Q2 2024 to Q2 2023. Meanwhile, the wage cost index adjusted for the number of working days but not seasonally, rose by 10.1% in Q2 2025 compared to Q2 2024, versus an 8.7% increase during the same comparison of Q2 2024 to Q2 2023.
