[]
Athens Times
Former Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, Sushila Karki, has been chosen to temporarily lead the country following violent protests, an official from the presidential office announced.
Karki, 73, the only woman to have served as Chief Justice of Nepal’s Supreme Court, will be sworn in at 8:45 PM local time, said Arkanath Hada Adhikari, the communication officer of the presidential office.
At least 51 people were killed and over 1,300 injured in the violent clashes that occurred on Monday and Tuesday, September 8 and 9.
Her appointment comes after the resignation of Prime Minister K.P.
Sharma Oli this week following anti-corruption protests in Nepal.
