Within the framework of the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair, Papastatos organized an engaging discussion at its corporate stand, focusing on the topic ‘Myths and Facts about Alternative Nicotine Products.’ The discussion featured Papastatos Vice President Iakovos Kargaroutis and Head of Scientific Affairs Stavroula Ntadilaki, with journalist Marianna Skylakaki moderating. Ntadilaki highlighted the example of Sweden, where the availability of such alternatives, like snus and nicotine pouches, has been linked to a significant decrease in smoking rates and smoking-related diseases. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the marketing of PMI’s nicotine pouches following a thorough evaluation of the scientific data. Additionally, stable taxation in recent years, combined with enhanced control effectiveness, has significantly reduced the illegal trade of tobacco products, ensuring market predictability. Finally, the discussion referenced Papastatos’ initiative ‘It’s in our hands not to be in theirs,’ in collaboration with the State, aimed at preventing minors’ access to tobacco and nicotine products through education, awareness, and innovative tools.
