In Cape Town, the company’s arrival is already reshaping the urban fabric, intensifying surveillance and insecurity, and exacerbating familiar divides along lines of class and race. Duiker’s characters try out these questions while walking around Cape Town, smoking, drinking, working in the theater or the massage and sex work parlor. There is palpable tension between Duiker’s characters because of what has happened to them, and their histories, and current status in South Africa, particularly Cape Town.
