US President Donald Trump said that with "time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO," Ukraine could regain its territory from Russia, who he said had been fighting "aimlessly."
US President Donald Trump appeared to shift his rhetoric about the war in Ukraine, following a meeting on Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
But US President Trump was optimistic over Ukraine's chances, following his meeting with Zelenskyy on Tuesday.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy responded to Trump's assertions by saying he believes that Washington would "push Russia toward peace."
Asked by DW if he was prepared to nominate the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize, Zelenskyy replied, "Trump has a chance to end this war.
