For decades, the so-called "world car” was the central concept for German car makers. Meanwhile, the Chinese government in Beijing has been making it increasingly clear that it prefers Chinese consumers to buy Chinese cars. It is an attempt to somehow save the concept of the world car. If German car companies are able to reestablish themselves in the large, global markets as everyone else tears each other apart, they might be able to survive. They would be among the last remaining global car companies.
