Tension in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector has eased after the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) agreed to suspend its industrial action against Dangote Refinery, following a truce brokered by the Federal Government.
The breakthrough came after two days of negotiations, held on Monday and Tuesday, between representatives of PENGASSAN, Dangote Group, and the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Central to the agreement was the recall of refinery workers who had been dismissed for joining PENGASSAN.
PENGASSAN had on Sunday announced a strike, cutting crude oil and gas supply to the multi-billion-dollar Dangote Refinery, in protest against the dismissal of staff members who voluntarily joined the union.
