Recycle Ayr started in October 2022 with the objective of reducing landfill waste by recycling, upcycling or reusing the donations that it receives. The project accepts donations on the first Saturday of every month between 11am and noon at Newton Primary School on Russell Drive in Ayr. Current items are bras, plastic milk bottle tops, unwanted technology, used postage stamps, unwanted jewellery, unwanted bank notes, large plastic containers, ring pulls, beer bottle tops, newspapers and printer ink cartridges. Other items that are passed on for reuse/repurposing/upcycling include fabric, duvets, bedding, household items, wool, thread, sleeping bags, spectacles, hearing aids, unopened toiletries, books, blankets, stationery items, Lego, toys, towels, craft materials and clothes. "We now have links with other local voluntary groups and charities, including Baby to Teen, Ayrshire Harbour and VASA.
