The federal government pulled firefighting services from the Wabush Airport in 2020. Firefighting services are returning to the Wabush Regional Airport, but local politicians say it isn’t going to be easy to get the services back up and running. Transport Canada pulled the service from the airport in 2020, citing low passenger volume. Labrador MP Yvonne Jones announced the return of firefighting services to the Wabush airport via this Nov. 20 social media post. The Independent reached out to Jones and Transport Canada for comment on the service returning but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
