The Heart of Poppets Netball Club
[]
Hawkesbury Gazette
At 92, still as passionate as ever, Mrs. B remains the driving force behind the Poppets Netball Club — the team she founded more than five decades ago and has nurtured ever since.
The club’s story began in 1969 when Mrs. B’s daughter, Janine, and her friends wanted to keep playing netball after finishing at South Windsor School.
Armed with donated fabric for uniforms and Mrs. B’s guidance, the Poppets were born — a name inspired by her affectionate nickname for the girls, her “little poppets.” From those modest beginnings, the club has grown to over 10 teams, producing generations of players and a rich local legacy.
Despite the passing years, Mrs. B’s passion has never dimmed.
She has given countless hours to coaching, mentoring, and building a community that extends far beyond the game.
