Barrow woman marks 90th by raising hundreds for charities instead of receiving gifts

Sheila Stansfield invited more than 60 guests to the British Legion on September 19, turning her milestone celebration into a fundraiser for St Mary’s Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Sheila even paid for the entertainment and buffet herself so that every pound raised could go to charity.
In total, £260 was donated to Cancer Research UK and £350 to Ulverston's St Mary’s Hospice - making a grand total of £610.
She has served on the West Shore Park Residents Association and continues to support local activities.
