The Albert Halls, located in the town hall, is one of the borough’s best locations for plays, pantos and music shows.
But when it underwent a major refurbishment in 2016, the theatre rigging system was not replaced.
Earlier this year, Bolton Council agreed to replace the rigging which they said was vital for "urgent health and safety reasons".
The replacement works have now been completed and passed insurance inspection, with the theatre open for productions since September 5.
A council report explained that the work is "specialist, niche and time sensitive" as it needed to be made "bespoke" for the theatre.
