Thirteen of the 23 therapists had graduate psychology degrees; others had therapy training or certificates (including 12 trained in Hakomi therapy). Moreover, the “norms” that are presented in this study are at odds with other psychedelic therapy accounts, where nudity and sexual expression are not considered expected. Indeed, no clients were interviewed for this study, which purported to be an inquiry into how to navigate the ethical challenges of psychedelic therapy. This school was founded and led by Grossbard and Bourzat; in fact, Brennan trained under Grossbard to practice psychedelic therapy. There is also growing criticism of problematic methodology design at the heart of much psychedelic therapy research.
