The Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has suggested that Nigerians owe former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, an apology for denying him a third term ambition. According to Osadolor, Nigeria made a costly mistake, stressing that the country’s institutions and governance might have been stronger under Obasanjo’s leadership. He said, “With the benefit of hindsight, and given the performance of governments that followed, I think Nigeria should apologise to President Obasanjo for denying him a third term. Obasanjo, speaking at a democracy dialogue organised by the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation in Ghana last week, dismissed the long-standing controversy. And there is no Nigerian dead or alive that would say I called him and told him I wanted a third term,” Obasanjo had said.
