A South African diplomat has been found dead in Paris under tragic circumstances. Authorities confirmed that the country’s Ambassador to France died after falling from a high-rise hotel. The 58-year-old envoy was discovered at the foot of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in the city’s western district. The South African Foreign Affairs Department said it is aware of the “unfortunate reports” and will issue a formal statement once full details are confirmed. Mthethwa was appointed to his post in France in February 2024 and also served as Ambassador to Monaco and permanent delegate to UNESCO.
