Photo by SubmittedOn Friday, August 29, a tornado was spotted along the coast of Vatnsleysuströnd on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Vísir reports. A passerby captured footage of the twister, which was picked up by Vísir. Tornados are extremely rare in Iceland and tend to dissipate quickly. In 2018, RÚV reported two separate tornadoes in Iceland, both occurring in August. The former was spotted near Suðurstrandarvegur, the latter in Álftaver in East Iceland and damaged a nearby farm.
