Photo by Art BicnickRescue teams assisted two tourists last night who had become lost in fog and rain near Landmannalaugar, reports RÚV. The hikers had been navigating the trail between Landmannalaugar and Hrafntinnusker when they realised they were disoriented and contacted the Emergency Line at around 20:00. The hut wardens at Landmannalaugar and a rescue team member stationed there began the search for the two tourists. In addition, rescue teams across southern Iceland were called out. Rescue teams that had not yet arrived at the scene were turned back, as was the Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter.
