Elephant in Lahad Datu died of organ failure, no foul play detected

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Threads WhatsApp TelegramKOTA KINABALU (Oct 1): Organ failure was determined to be the cause of death of an elephant found at Felcra Berhad Estate, Danum in Lahad Datu on Sept 26. “Physical inspection of the carcass revealed only minor old wounds, with no signs of new injuries. “Preliminary findings concluded that the elephant’s death was caused by multiple organ failure, and investigations confirmed there were no elements of wildlife crime involved,” she said. A plantation supervisor found the dead elephant at the Felcra Bhd Estate Danum’s Block 57 during a routine patrol. He also said preliminary checks showed no signs of wildlife crime such as gunshot wounds, bullet casings, or external injuries on the animal’s carcass.
