NREB to expand real-time river monitoring in S’wak to boost environmental protection

Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Threads WhatsApp TelegramKUCHING (Oct 1): The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) will expand its telemetric water quality monitoring system across Sarawak to strengthen environmental management and safeguard river health, said State Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
He stressed that accurate and timely data is essential for effective environmental protection.
“Those involved in land development and urban commercial activities must take every measure to prevent pollution and protect water quality.
He also highlighted the importance of NREB’s annual Environmental Quality Report, which provides an overview of ambient air and water quality, as well as the environmental performance of development projects in Sarawak.
“Environmental Monitoring Reports must reflect actual site conditions and be submitted promptly, with integrity and transparency,” he added.
