The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that two patients were taken to hospital for further treatment. One was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, while the other was transported by road to Darlington Memorial Hospital. A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.33am on Tuesday, September 30 to reports of a road traffic incident on the A66 in Bowes, Barnard Castle. One patient was transported by air to James Cook University Hospital, and another was transported by road to Darlington Memorial Hospital." A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said: "Our team were activated at 10.45am to reports of a road traffic collision in Bowes.
