Food for People’s child nutrition program, Backpacks for Kids, is getting a boost in Arcata thanks to a charity golf tournament hosted by Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise and Rotary Club of Arcata at the Baywood Golf and Country Club on Saturday. Members of Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise created the fundraiser golf event as a new way to support the Backpacks for Kids program in Arcata area schools. The two Rotary clubs have contributed to provide Arcata area schools with the program for many years. Golfers and non-golfers are invited to an after-tournament social from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Baywood Golf & Country Club. Attendees can also enter to win a seven-day, eight-night Hawaiian vacation on Kauai, or bid on the many silent auction items including golf play at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
