René Buck: As a student, I interviewed U.S. and Japanese managers who had recently opened factories in Europe. If you go to Central and Eastern Europe — Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary — you’ll find labor market tightness in certain regions there, too. Even in China, on the east coast near Shanghai and Shenzhen, the labor market was until recently tight. You’ve also said that external pressures — like tariffs and global politics — are becoming bigger drivers of location decisions.
