A fire at Kapasia Bazar in Gazipur has gutted at least five businesses and killed more than 200 birds. Firefighters from Kapasia Fire Service and Civil Defence brought it under control after about an hour and a half of effort. Bird trader Barendra Mandal said about 200 birds—budgerigars, cockatiels, pheasants, pigeons, and doves—perished in the fire. Bird food worth Tk 20 lakh was also destroyed, he said. Sub-Inspector Shafiq Mia of Kapasia Police Station said, "I am at the scene collecting information.
