If Manitoba Hydro diversified the production of power including more wind, and started to install solar, then there would be options. Solar power would add to the grid and allow Manitoba Hydro to store water for later when the winter comes and it gets darker. Solar is the cheapest form of energy now, and is quicker to install and costs much less than hydro dams.
