(ABC 6 News) — Homecoming Week got a little more worldly on Tuesday at Bear Cave Intermediate School in Stewartville where third graders received their own atlases and compasses. Community nonprofit, the Stewartville Morning Lions, handed out more than 150 atlases as part of their annual BCI Project. It’s a tradition that began with dictionaries, but over time it shifted to atlases at the request of third grade teachers who said students regularly look up words online. The Morning Lions, whose mission is to serve, makes this donation every year hoping to show students that giving back is what truly maps out a strong community.
