AUSTIN – Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is urging eligible communities to apply now for the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program (LHMPP) and Resilient Communities Program (RCP) before both programs close to new applications on December 31, 2025. The GLO is encouraging interested eligible communities to apply before the deadline. “The Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program and Resilient Communities Program give Texas communities the tools to build more resilient futures. The Local Hazard Mitigation Plans Program (LHMPP) provides grants ranging from $20,000 to $100,000 to help eligible local governments develop or update FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plans or provide cost share for mitigation planning activities funded through other federal sources. The Resilient Communities Program (RCP) awards up to $300,000 per eligible applicant to support the adoption and implementation of forward-looking building codes, zoning ordinances, and land use plans.
