Closure order for village home after reports of drug use and violence
['Dan Mountney']
Welwyn Hatfield Times | News
The three-month order for the home in Woodlands Road, Thunbridge, was granted at Stevenage Magistrates' Court on Friday (September 12) following an application by the East Herts Police Community Safety Unit, with support from East Herts Council and housing colleagues.
It prevents anyone except the tenant and named authorities, from accessing the property and anyone who does so could face arrest.
Community Safety Sergeant Nathan Howson said: "Restricting how someone can live is always a last resort, but despite several warnings, the behaviour persisted, and we were left with no choice.
"Residents in the area had been left terrified and exhausted by what was happening and this is completely unacceptable.
Every call helps us to build up the evidence we need to present cases to court."
