The London Martial Arts Academy, based at the United Reformed Church on Darkes Lane in Potters Bar, received the title for London and the South East from the Prestige Awards. The academy is led by Master Andrew Sofos, a Brookmans Park resident who has worked in the sector for decades. In 2011, he was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of his charitable work with young people and community groups. The academy says it remains committed to promoting discipline, resilience and personal development through martial arts. It continues to teach students at Darkes Lane and hopes to inspire a new generation of martial artists in Potters Bar and the surrounding area.
