THE THURROCK councillor for the environment, has detailed what Thurrock Council has done since a large dump of tyres was set alight over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Fire crews were called on May 6th, 7th and 8th as massive plumes of smoke hung over the Blackshots area. The tyres were on council land that runs north of the rugby club and east of Blackshots Lane. On Tuesday May 8th, we sent a number of questions to Thurrock Council. Cllr Aaron Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: “These tyres were illegally fly-tipped in the field which does not have any access for vehicles.
