Congress missed its deadline, and now the federal government is officially shut down — the first since 2019, according to WENY News.
Late Tuesday, both parties’ funding bills failed in the Senate, with healthcare disagreements at the center of the collapse.
A few moderates, including Sen. John Fetterman, sided with the GOP to keep the government open — but not enough to tip the vote.
Leaders say a deal is still possible, but only if a handful of Democrats cross the aisle.
