I was reminded of this in a visit last month to Grand Ronde, a place I plan to return to again, this time before 36 years have elapsed. A visit to Grand Ronde was part of my first day as a fulltime reporter, on April 1, 1981. I made perhaps five other visits to Grand Ronde in my two stints on the staff of the I-O in the early-to-late-1980s. But the exhibits at the Chachalu Museum were very much in tune with the times. To the healing question, “Color, life, connection …” one visitor wrote.
