Upgrades are set to take place on the A56, where outdated fixed cameras will be replaced with new average speed cameras. Average speed cameras have been shown to improve road safety by encouraging drivers to maintain steady speeds, which also improves traffic flow and reduces emissions. The A56 is one of 25 routes across Greater Manchester selected for the new cameras.
